Here’s a shot of someone else’s with the cover off, showing its vacuum-tube innards. That’s right, vacuum tubes.
I built one of these back when I was still in High School, a gift from my parents. The only “real” SW receiver I personally owned. Of course it needed at least a 40 meter dipole to do any meaningful DX-ing. Had it until sometime in 1998 when we forgot to pack it during our move back from New Jersey to New York.
Still kicking myself over that.
