R.I.P., Dr. Ritchie

Dennis Ritchie, “the father of C and Unix” has died. The cited piece by Laura Sydell on NPR did a nice job of explaining how important Dennis was to, well, the world.

There’s another obit over on CNN entitled, Dennis Ritchie: The shoulders of giants.

Two Ritchie quotes lifted from the Wikipedia article on him:

“UNIX is very simple, it just needs a genius to understand its simplicity.”

“C is quirky, flawed, and an enormous success.”

Rest in Peace, Dr. Ritchie.
