Enthusiasm is important, especially if you’re going to be involved in a movement like open source.

After many years where open source in general, and Linux in particular, has made gains in the enterprise space, the community and its enthusiasm for the platform continues to be the real engine driving things. For that I submit Exhibit A, Linux Fest Northwest 2016.

The home pages for this year’s fest have video on all the sessions, which range from practical advice for sysadmins to the latest trends in open source development.

My favorite quote from the fest come from Richard Brown, chairman of the openSUSE project, who quipped during an interview on the Linux Action Show (starting at 1:05:16):

“Convergence? Let’s just get it right in one place first!”
